I am Mendel.
I am a human-centered, scientific, explorative, design opportunity identifier. I have expanding knowledge and passion in the fields of industrial design, social science, human processes and new technology. I use a combination of scientific methods and creativity tools, to identify the problem space and work from a broad perspective towards a clear solution overview.

I am specialized in design research, context analysis, user awareness, and the translation of research into valuable technological solutions that serve the need of the user.

Design Approach

Every design challenge starts with theoretical research, to lay the scientific fundament for design. During the process the user is involved in many ways to participate and validate the insights. Understanding human behavior is crucial to design.

Important in all my design projects is the integration of discoverable and educational elements, to make sure that users (of any age) won't get bored, not even when they use my design for the 20th time.

A large part of the process is dedicated to the iterative process of prototyping, to actually realize my solutions. With a prototype in my hand I am able to to communicate, test and validate the complete experience.

My personal interest in music has been at the core of many of my projects. Music has the power to turn mundane moments into special events, so every design that enhances the effect that music has on people, is a valuable carrier for my vision.
